How Kind Are You To Others?

FAITH:
Jesus was kind to people that other religious leaders avoided. He ate and drank with people that other religious leaders wouldn’t be caught dead with. He touched lepers, talked respectfully with women, and loved noisy children.

The most inspiring idealism comes together with the most rugged realism in Jesus. Nowhere do we find a better picture of what it means to be faithful to the highest principles while offering mercy to the most broken people.

When Jesus pressed the logic of moral idealism, He did so in order to lovingly humble self-righteous people (Matthew 5:20-48). When He offered mercy instead of morality, He did so to show that He had come not to condemn but to rescue (John 3:17; 12:47).

"One kind word can warm three winter months," says a Japanese proverb.

Kind words indeed warm the human spirit. Kindness is literally love in action, showing genuine friendship to others by regarding them as important in God's sight and worthy of dignity and respect. It involves treating others with courtesy, lending encouragement, and freely offering yourself or your resources to help a person in need, no strings attached......

'In the book of Proverbs, we read that kindness is a prime quality of a virtuous woman: When she speaks, her words are wise , and kindness is the rule for everything she says" (Prov 32:26). Men, these virtues are for us, too!

Make a special effort to brighten someone's day with an unexpected kind word or gesture. At work, express appreciation to others for the jobs they do. With the neighbors, be quick to lend a helping hand or offer encouragement.

Imagine the impact Christians could have on the world if kindness were the rule in all we do!

FRIENDS:

Father, help me to walk in love and be an imitator of your loving Spirit. Give me an attitude of generosity to all that I might not grieve the Holy Spirit. Let me be a shining example of you love and mercy. You have blessed me in so many ways, may the life you have given me always glorify your Holy name. In Jesus name, Amen
