It does make a difference

FAITH:

Numbers 1:1-2:34
God directed Moses and others to take a census of the Israelites and to organize the tribes for specific duties.

Moses counted all of God's people and assigned certain people to lead in worship. Each role helped to shape the community.

Jonathan Edwards was one man who make a difference. Born in 1703, he was perhaps the most brilliant mind America ever produced. A pastor, writer, and later president of Princeton, he and his wife had eleven children. Of his known male descendants:

More than 300 became pastors, missionaries, or theological professors.;
120 were professors at various universities;
110 became lawyers;
60 were prominent authors;
30 were judges;
14 served as president of universities and colleges;
3 served in the U.S. Congress, and one became vice-president of the United States.

Johathan Edwards...was just one man, but he postitibely affected hundreds and even thousands of his descendants after his death. The destiny of those future generations is in your hands. The choices you make with your family today will determine the quality of life in your family tree for generations to come. That's why one man can make a difference. by Steve Farrar

Applying it: You can make a difference in the lives of your children and grandchildren by serving God and dedicating your children to His service. The next time your family comes together, share about the "point people" who have most affected your life for the Lord. Help instill a vision for service in the kingdom of God. Then share with your children how they can pass along that vision.

FRIENDS: Lord, I want to live for You. You have blessed me with children and a special family. You go before me each day guiding and directing my life with gentleness and loving care. remove from me anything that does not honor You. Shower me, I pray with all the fruits of the Spirit. May my life be a blessing to those you have given me the opportunity to touch. Help me to radiate Your love with gentleness, self-control, kindness, and faithfulness, that I may not only live in the Spirit but also walk in he Spirit. In Jesus, name, Amen.

FOOD:

DON'T WANT TO COOK A WHOLE IRISH MEAL....TRY IRISH SODA BREAD Ingredients
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
6 tablespoons solid shortening (recommended: Crisco)
2/3 cup raisins, brown or golden or mixed 2 teaspoons caraway seeds
1 cup buttermilk
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
In a large bowl sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and sugar. Using a pastry blender or fingertips, work the shortening into the flour until the consistency is the same as that of small peas. Stir in the raisins and caraway and mix to distribute evenly. Gradually stir in the buttermilk, 1/4 cup at a time, using only enough to allow the dough to come together.
Knead the dough for 1 to 2 minutes. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place on a greased baking sheet. Cut an X on the top and over the sides of the loaf.
Bake for 45 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped. Cool on a rack


FUN:

Flynn staggered home very late after another evening with his drinking buddy, Paddy. He took off his shoes to avoid waking his wife, Mary. He tiptoed as quietly as he could toward the stairs leading to their upstairs bedroom, but misjudged the bottom step. As he caught himself by grabbing the banister, his body swung around and he landed heavily on his rump. A whiskey bottle in each back pocket broke and made the landing especially painful. Managing not to yell, Flynn sprung up, pulled down his pants, and looked in the hall mirror to see that his butt cheeks were cut and bleeding.
He managed to quietly find a full box of Band-Aids and began putting a Band-Aid as best he could on each place he saw blood. He then hid the now almost empty Band-Aid box and shuffled and stumbled his way to bed. In the morning, Flynn woke up with searing pain in both his head and butt and Mary staring at him from across the room. She said, "You were drunk again last night weren't you?" Flynn said, "Why you say such a mean thing?" "Well," Mary said, "it could be the open front door, it could be the broken glass at the bottom of the stairs, it could be the drops of blood trailing through the house, it could be your bloodshot eyes, but mostly.....it's all those Band-Aids stuck on the hall mirror.
