Friends

I can't give solutions to all of life's problems, doubts, or fears; But I can listen to you, and together we will search for answers.

I can't change your past with all it's heartache and pain,nor the future with it's untold stories; But I can be there now when you need me to care.

I can't keep your feet from stumbling; I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall.

Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happiness are not mine; Yet I can share in your laughter.

Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to judge; I can only support you, encourage you, and help you when you ask.

I can't prevent you from falling away from friendship,from your values, from me; I can only pray for you, talk to you and wait for you.

I can't give you boundaries which I have determined for you; But I can give you the room to change,room to grow, room to be yourself.

I can't keep your heart from breaking and hurting; But I can cry with you and help you pick up the piecesand put them back in place.

I can't tell you who you are; I can only love you and be your friend.

This lovely piece on friendship was sent to me via email and I just had to share it with this group. I am flying today and will be in New Mexico visiting my family and will post on Thursday instead of today. Please keep me in prayer as the altitude is very high here and I am still having the breathing problems.

Anonymous said...: Praying for you too and I loved the writing on friendship. We can't fix the problems but we can walk with our friends through them and pray for them. Friendship is such a blessing. I learned in our 40 days of love to think.....

UPDATE ON UNCLE RON: Thanks for all your prayers for Uncle Ron. He is back at home, released from hospital today. The gastro operation was a great success, his eating and breathing is much improved. We are all amazed and thrilled by his resilience and determination. Mom is greatly relieved too, as we all are. Yeah God....Not bad for a guy in his 90's..(my comment)

UPDATE ON DAVID: He got a nice new apartment. Now we need to pray for a better job for him. He needs to know that God still remembers him and loves him.

UPDATE ON THE THOMAS FAMILY: Mike is home again with his family.

UPDATE ON BOBBY MILES: As you know Bobby has had prostate cancer this year. He got over that & is fine. Then lymphoma reared its ugly head in the form of stage one. He has had 2 chemo's and then a CT scan. When we went to the Dr. Thursday for the third chemo the Dr said half of the tumor is gone. He is scheduled for another chemo on Nov 5th. and then another CT scan. We want to thank you all for the prayers that have worked wonderfully.

UPDATE ON JACK EVANS: Jack came home from the hospital but is on oxygen. He had a collapsed lung, pneumonia, congestive heart failure and an infection. Please pray for his recovery from these things.

--Please pray for Cherie's husband Dick. He has been in the hospital since Sunday and has not woken up yet. Has pneumonia and needs surgery to clean out the infection but too weak and going through a lot of testing. Prayers needed for him and Cherie and family.

--Please continue to pray for the family of Kelsey Thomas. There is so much pain and learning to adjust to life without your child. They are hurting.

--Prayers for Alison Fairchild's knee. She is a volley ball player on a college team and has had to have one surgery on it and now it appears they want to do another one. She is not sure she wants this again. Please pray for God to make it clear to her what she should do.

--My neighbor, Jess, was just diagnosed with stomach cancer. He has had cancer two other times and treatment has been successful both times. He is going to start 6 hours chemo flooding to stop the mass they found in his stomach. Penni

--Please continue to pray for the Roberts family because of the passing of Don's mother.

--I am sending out this short email asking for your fervent prayers on behalf of a young woman in our home congregation in Troy, Ohio.

Her name is April, she has just recently completed treatment for breast cancer and was doing great until having a seizure today. After being taken to the hospital she has now been diagnosed with a brain tumor. April is only 33 yr. and has 2 young preschoolers at home. April has strong faith but is scared tonight, she also knows the power of prayer and is asking for prayers from all Christians. GOD is the Healer and all time Comforter. Please pray right now for her as she goes through this and that she will feel the comfort that only our GOD can provide. Lorie Melling

--Cindy Becerra and Michelle Spencer as the Doctors have found four brain tumors on their mother Sue. Sue is a regular attender on Wednesday nights and part of our Wednesday Bible study.
-- Today's devo on alcohol is exactly what I needed, I am taking a stand against alcohol and its control over me. I am working on my spirit with Gods help and the prayers of his people. You can share my desire but for now I would like to remain private. We only have a few days to move and need the doors to open for a house that will accept dogs and not so good credit. I am very stressed and need help with prayers and giving it to the Lord and prayers would be wonderful.

--Jeffery Coleman, my grandson, left for Iraq for a year. Please keep his safety and the safety of the other military personnel in your prayers.

--Prayers for David in Kansas. He has a very hard job that is wrecking his health. He needs different employment and he needs to know that it came from God.

--There is a family that really needs our prayers. Something awful happened to their daughter years ago and now it is causing many emotional problems in her life. Please pray for her well being and also for the family as they are devastated.

--This weekend our son Kurt told us he had talked to a mutual friend of ours in Idaho. Don told Kurt that another of his UPS buddies there at the Center in Idaho has a son serving in Afghanistan who went missing and assumed captured by the Taliban. It hadn't been reported on the news yet, at that time. Now we are hearing of a young soldier who has been confirmed captured by a segment of the Taliban. However, I have not heard his name mentioned. Since they are also saying this soldier is the first ever American soldier to be captured in Afghanistan, I think it's safe to assume that it could very well be the son of Don's friend. I also heard it reported that this young man left the safety of his fellow soldiers unarmed and "naked," meaning his didn't have on his military protective gear -- both of those things being against military rules.
Bottom line --please pray for this young soldier and the family of Don's friend. Perhaps the news media will eventually provide us with a name, but for now, God knows who he is and what needs to happen to keep him from harm. PLEASE PRAY! Thank you so much.

--I have received two requests for prayers for troubled marriages. Let's pray for anyone whose marriage is floundering. And especially for these two families. No names but God knows who they are.

--Continue to pray for Dee Dee. Kathy and Ellen are working with her and she is really receptive to their love and ministering to her and her family.

--Asking for prayers for someone whose grown children have stopped speaking to him. Pray for a family reconciliation and for peace for his broken heart.
UPDATE: One of children responded to him but with coldness. Pray that the Lord will melt their hearts...

--Can you please keep me in your prayers, as I need a job quickly. My unemployment is going to run out soon and don't know how long if I qualify for an extension of benefits.
