FAITH:
1 Samuel 28:1-25
Saul discovered the Philistines massing for an attack. Unsure of his ability to lead the nation to victory, Saul turned to the witch of En Dor for help.
Sometimes, in a struggle to solve our problems, we are tempted to turn away from God's help. Saul's life demonstrated the disastrous results of seeking help by means of spiritual forces other than God.
So there are external spiritual forces which are at work in this world, seeking to keep us from God and his will....
And this is not just external to us. This battle goes on inside of us....Maybe your sin is wrong sexual desires, pride gluttony, laziness, or anger, or some other besetting sin....But you feel the inner struggle Sometimes you conclude just as Paul did in Romans 7:22-24 ["What a struggle!])
But don't stop there! Note Paul's glorious conclusion in verse 25 and 8:2...."Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!...For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death."

Apply it: Pride, insecurity, and fear will rise up and assert themselves, prompting us to live independently of God. We must anticipate this temptation and resist, allowing faith in Christ to lead us toward God and all or his resources.

FRIENDS:
Father, Sometimes life doesn't seem fair. I wonder why good people have to hurt? Why does it seem we have to suffer and be battered by life to understand Jesus? I pray that His assurance will find it's way into the darkest corners of life, regardless of circumstances and that needs will be met. Help us to understand that by surrendering to Him, the ultimate victory is ours. Let your kingdom live int the hearts of people and let your kingdom come eternally. In Jesus' name, Amen

FOOD:
Easy Pina Colada Coffee Cake
1-1/2 cups Bisquick
1/2 cup Sugar
1 cup crushed pineapple, packed in fruit juice, drained, with 1/3 cup
liquid reserved
1/4 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons water
1 tsp coconut extract
1 tsp rum extract
2 TBS flaked coconut
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Spray an 8x8 baking pan with butter-flavored cooking spray. In a
large bowl, combine the Bisquick and sugar. Add pineapple, reserved
pineapple juice, sour cream, and water. Mix gently just to combine.
Stir in coconut and rum extracts.
Evenly spread batter into prepared baking dish. Sprinkle coconut
evenly over the top.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the
center comes out clean.
Place baking dish on a wire rack and let cool for at least 15
minutes.
Cut into 8 servings
